Stuck in town for the long weekend and feeling bored? There's lots to do even if you didn't get to head to the mountains or to the lake for the whole three days.

One of the best things about living in Morinville is how quickly you can take a quick getaway—all around us is is recreation country. No fighting traffic to get out of the city required, just turn up the tunes and hit the road.

Try one of these ideas on:

🪴 Deb’s Greenhouse Mini Golf & Secret Garden
Practically in town, this is a fun way to spend an hour or two. Afterward, cross the road to Heritage Lake or head back into town to cool off at the spray park.

🛶 Cardiff Lake Paddle or Picnic
Just 10 minutes away and perfect for a quick paddle or lounging in the sun. Call Fusion World Rentals or the St. Albert Canoe & Kayak Club to rent equipment.

🦕 Jurassic Forest + Imagination Hike
Great if you’ve got kids—or just want to feel like one again. After checking out the animatronic dinos, head into Gibbons and park at Echo Glen. Follow the trail down toward the river, turn at the Trans Canada Trail sign and continue into the valley with its hoodoo-ish banks … with a little imagination, it feels like a step back to the dinosaur age.

🏖️ Long Lake Provincial Park
One hour away and totally worth it. Beach time, boat rentals, hiking, volleyball, even campfires—everything you want from a camping trip, with the bonus of being home at the end of the day to sleep in your own bed.

Dropped in to Reveresque to pick some haskap and taste some haskap wine, went home with about 8 lbs of berries and 6 bottles (haskap and cherry) of delicious wine!

Reveresque owner Andy says he's working on licensing so soon you'll be able to enjoy a glass or two at a little table area nestled into trees next to the berry fields. Can't wait!

Reveresque is a berry farm and fruit winery about 10 minutes outside Morinville (by Bon Accord). A visit feels like peak summer ☀️

If you’re that person who has to run to the gas station to get a last-minute gift, you can actually get a pretty good one here!

The Westwinds Shell is one of the most unusual gas stations I’ve ever been to with its full array of power equipment inside. Not only that, but there are more toys (including some pretty cool mini Husqvarna play power tools), work clothes, tools, thermoses and other odds’n’sods.

If you only ever stop for gas and pay at the pump, try going inside - it's worth a visit.
